Library Resources

Introducing…Mrs. Dowling
Hi! My name is Mrs. Dowling. I just love being the librarian! I have been the computer teacher, and before that I taught communication arts, but I feel the library is my home. I have always loved to read and browse for good books in the library. I want to continue to make our library a fun place to be and a place where student can find good books to read!
If you ever have any questions you can give me a call at 476-7441 or email me at ndowling@mehlvilleschooldistrict.net

Library Schedule and Checkout Procedures

Students will visit the library with their Literature teacher every two weeks.

The library is open before school at 7:40 a.m.

Library checkout is for two weeks and students can check up to four items out at a time.

Overdue items result in a fine of 5 cents per day per item. Students are encouraged to renew books if they are not finished within the two-week checkout period. This will prevent them from having fines.  Students cannot renew something if it is at home or in their locker.

Library Skills

Library goes well beyond just checking out books and sponsoring the book fair these days. While at the library, students will gain proficiency in researching, media literacy, genre study, and technology. Working with their teachers, I provide library lessons that are connected to what they are studying. To find out more about the library curriculum, please click on the Mehlville and DESE links. (On the DESE site, go to pages 18-19.)

Library Council
The purpose of Library Council is to get students involved in the school library. I am wanting to make the library a teen-centered place to be, and I will need help from the students to do this.I am wanting the Library Council group to help me encourage school wide reading.

The biggest responsibility Library Council has is putting together the book fair. Most Library Council and Student Crew meetings will be held directly after school until 3:45 p.m. All students should arrange transportation home prior to staying after school.

All students are welcome, I just ask they they are hard working and team players.
